Mamon Powers, Jr.
President and CEO

Mamon Powers, Jr. has been in the construction industry formore than 40 years. He began his career with the American Oil Company (AMOCO) and then joined his father at Powers & Sons Construction Co., Inc. in 1971. He served as the Company’s Treasurer until he was named President in 1987. Under his leadership, the Company switched its focus from residential to commercial and industrial construction and grew to be one of the largest African-American owned construction companies in the country. Mamon graduated from Purdue University, West Lafayette with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Civil Engineering. He is a registered professional engineer, registered with the State of Indiana.

Throughout his career, Mamon has been actively involved in various organizations that serve the construction industry and community as a whole. He currently serves as the Vice Chairman of Purdue University’s Board of Trustees. He sits on the Board of Directors for Fifth Third Bank’s Chicago Region and The Methodist Hospitals in Northwest Indiana. Mamon is also a member of the Construction Advancement Foundation of Northwest Indiana, National Association of Minority Contractors, World Presidents Organization, Chief Executive Organization, Golden Heritage Member of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP), and the Trustee Board of First A.M.E. Church.

Claude Powers
Executive Vice President of Operations

Claude Powers has been in the construction industry for almost 30 years. After graduating from Purdue University, West Lafayette with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Building Construction, Claude joined his father and brother in the family business. He served as Powers & Sons Construction Company’s Secretary until he was named Vice President in 1987. He is currently responsible for overseeing all operations.

Claude serves the community and construction industry through involvement in numerous organizations including the Northwest Indiana Minority Business Development Committee, Calumet Builders Association, Association of General Contractors of Indiana, Frontiers International Service Club, John Will Andersons Boys & Girls Club, and First A.M.E. Church. He is a Board Member for the Construction Advancement Foundation and serves as a Trustee on the Indiana Carpenters Pension Fund as well as the Apprenticeship Board. Claude is also actively involved in local labor issues as the Chairman of the Labor Committee for the Commercial Contractors Caucus of the Northwest Indiana Contractors Association.

Marvin Murdock
Senior Manager

Marvin Murdock has over twenty-five years of commercial construction experience. He joined Powers & Sons Construction in 2002 as a Senior Project Manager based in the Indianapolis office. Currently Marvin helps oversee the Estimating and Project Management departments. He also continues to manage large projects. Marvin is committed to quality, excellence and meeting the needs of our clients.

Marvin's extensive construction background gives him the ability to successfully coordinate multiple projects and maintain a complex and demanding schedule. His past projects range in value up to $275 million. Prior to joining Powers & Sons, Marvin served as Vice President for Murdock Enterprises in Marianna, Arkansas and Chief Estimator/Senior Project Manager for Batteast Construction Company in South Bend, Indiana. Marvin graduated from Northeastern State University with a Bachelors of Arts in Business Administration.

Todd Pressley
Vice President

Todd Pressley has over twenty years of construction industry experience. Todd joined Powers & Sons Construction Company in 2007 as Vice President. He is responsible for business development, preconstruction services, estimating, contract negotiation and administration, project start-up, and the establishment of management systems.

Todd graduated from Cornell University with a Bachelor of Science in Facilities Planning and Management. He went on to earn a Diploma in Construction Management from New York University and a Masters of Business of Administration from Bernard M. Baruch College, a part of the City University System of New York City.

Todd has extensive experience which covers multiple project types and range in value from $500,000 to $100 million. Prior to joining Powers & Sons, Todd served as Vice President – Business Group Manager for Walsh Construction Company in Chicago, Illinois and Senior Project Manager for Humphreys & Harding, Inc. in New York, New York.

Throughout his career, Todd has been actively involved in various organizations that serve the construction industry and community as a whole. He is currently active with Cornell University Alumni Association, Baruch College Alumni Association, Chicago Public Schools, Principal for a Day, and Hispanic American Construction Industry Association.

Mamon Powers, III
Vice President

Mamon Powers, III grew up in the construction industry and spent many summers in high school and college working for the family business. In 2007, he chose to follow in his father’s, grandfather’s, and uncle’s footsteps by rejoining Powers & Sons Construction. He currently is on the Board of Directors for the John H. Boner Community Center and is a member of United Way’s Emerging Leaders.

Mamon graduated from Tri-State University with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Applied Management with Construction. He went on to earn his Masters in Business Administration from Purdue University.

After earning his MBA, Mamon accepted a position with JE Dunn Construction Company in Kansas City, Missouri. During his tenure, Mamon worked on large hospital projects ranging from $40 to $140 million in value. This experience helped broaden Mamon’s construction management experience and prepared him to return to Powers & Sons with new ideas and a fresh perspective.

Over the years, Mamon has served in numerous capacities with Powers & Sons including Laborer, Carpenter Apprentice, Estimator, Project Engineer, and Project Manager. He currently serves as Director of Operations in the Indianapolis office and the company’s Corporate Recruiter. In addition to managing projects, he is responsible for setting each project’s processes and objectives and ensuring they are properly executed. He also is oversees the financial aspects of the Indianapolis office. Mamon is committed to making sure every Powers & Sons project is a success.
